如圖1所示,高模量和中模量硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠在承受相同應力作用情況下,中模量硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠具有更優的形變能力。
對于因玻璃重力等造成的靜態應力,一般首選高模量和高強度的硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠。但由于組裝不同熱膨脹系數的固體材料時(如組裝玻璃與塑料或玻璃與金屬),無法避免因溫度變化造成的硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠延伸。如,連接1.5 m玻璃到PVC窗框的2 mm厚的硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠,當溫度從20℃升到70℃時,會延伸50%。而給定延伸率條件下,與中等模量硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠相比,高模量硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠與兩個交界面的應力要大得多(圖1),較大的應力會使裝配過早失效,這種失效在遭遇高濕度、高溫和強風等外部因素時會更為嚴重。要實現對這些熱應力的長期耐受,低模量但彈性和彈性回復能力出色的硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠通常是最佳選擇。
